Australian Pesticides
& Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)
Formerly
known as NRA, National Registration Authority
The APVMA is a regulatory body that
evaluates and approves agricultural and veterinary chemical products
prior to their retail sale within Australia. Chemical products for
agricultural or veterinary use must be registered with the
APVMA prior
to Australian retail sale regardless of the country of manufacture.
The Canberra based
APVMA, ensures that the
afore-mentioned products comply with Australian Standards, and that
they are safe and effective when used as directed. Extensive data is
required to register a new product or when there is a major change in
the formulation of a previously registered product. Each agricultural
and veterinary chemical product is required to conform to the
APVMA Labelling Code and must contain specific text as appropriate.
ChemSkill consultants can assist you with product registration
requirements, including the labelling of the product, and compliance
to the relevant legislation.
