Our client is a world leader in FMCG.  They have been making, marketing and selling products world wide for almost 200 years – we’ve all indulged in their genius!  Their products are fun for all, but they take the business of creating them very seriously.
 
Due to positive restructuring, our client is looking to employ a Senior Consumer Research Scientist.
 
In this role you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting consumer based research to provide guidance to Product Development and Research projects. You will have a technical background and a strong commercial focus!
 
The successful candidate will provide informed guidance to product and package design, and have the technical and commercial background to understand the consequences of their consumer research, and be able to sell it to their peers.
 
We are looking for a person who is exciting to work with, and passionate about what they’re doing. The perfect person will be technically solid and scientifically curious. A strong relationship builder who is assertive when needed but is also a team player with exceptional interpersonal skills. Curious, Dynamic, Assertive and Confident, you have strong convictions and the technical knowledge to back yourself if you have to push for them. You sweep people along with you, rather than having to drag them along.
 
Responsibilities for this role with include:
 
  • Independently lead and conduct consumer and sensory research that will provide commercially useful outcomes
  • Deliver excellent sensory and consumer guidance to research and product development projects
  • Develop and improve new and existing products
  • Develop implement best practice sensory methodology
  • Build in-depth product and commercial knowledge continually enhance the value you bring to projects
 
 
 To be considered for this exciting role, you must meet the following requirements:
 
  • Educated to at least graduate level in food science/technology and or a related discipline (e.g. psychology, statistics, consumer science)
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience managing and training sensory panels (QDA methodology preferred)
  • Experience designing and conducting sensory evaluation and consumer research
  • Multivariate and other data analysis experience
  • Experience working in a FMCG environment, ideally with confectionery, will be well regarded
  • Experience in line-management and coaching or mentoring others
  • Ability to build and maintain client/stakeholder relationships
  • Above average communication, organisation and management skills are crucial
