Research Scientist - Environmental / Occupational Sampling

  • Initial Six Month Contract with Potential for Another Six Month Extension
Our client, a major government research facility based in Melbourne requires a Research Scientist to work with a team of scientists exploring and identifying exhaled breath biomarkers.
 
The successful candidate will need to be experienced in sampling relating to gas and bodily fluids, ie environmental and occupational.
 
To be considered for this position you must meet the following criteria:
 
  • A post-graduate degree in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent qualifications with experience in sampling breath,   environmental gases and/or occupational samples such as blood and urine.
 
  • Experience with instrumental analytical procedures such as GC/MS and HPLC at a research level will be highly regarded.
 
  • Willingness to accept personal responsibility for defining and solving scientific problems.
 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of research objectives and to implement appropriate strategies within a research project.
 
  • Evidence of an effective contribution to successful outcomes for environmental and occupational sampling.
 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with the scientific community.
 
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual or as a member of a team.
 
  • A working knowledge of public health issues will be highly regarded.
 
  • As this is a government position, you must be an Australian citizen and be willing to undergo a security check.
 
This is a rare opportunity to become involved with "cutting edge" technology and research.  Initially, the position is for six months with a view to another six month extension.
