Technical Manager - Quality Focus

Our client is an Australian owned FMCG manufacturer in the food sector. With manufacturing facilities in three states, they are a leader in their field. They are currently looking to fill the newly created role of Technical Manager.
 
Reporting to the VP Operations, the Technical Manager’s main duties will be quality and food safety related, including coordination of the Chemical and Microbiological laboratories and maintaining sound quality management systems throughout the Plant. You will ensure finished goods meet or exceed company and client expectations, as well as all relevant legal requirements.
 
Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Management of the quality system (ISO 9002, EU,FDA)
  • Monitoring quality from supplier through to distribution with a “continuous improvement” outlook
  • Manage product testing functions including external & internal labs
  • Conduct/Supervise audits
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with food safety requirements
  • Drive improvements and culture change where needed
  • Manage QA team including performance assessment and coaching, especially with regard to quality and food safety related subjects. Lead and manage change processes as needed
  • Ensure effective planning and monitoring of the department’s budget
 
 
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
 
  • At least Degree qualified in Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written English are crucial
  • Well developed knowledge of ISO, QCMS and HACCP standards
  • Sound knowledge of the National and EU (ABP) Food Safety regulations policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of APVMA, WQA and SQF requirements an advantage
  • Strong understanding of Process, Production, Development and Information systems
  • Strong micro, canning and thermal processing knowledge would be a distinct advantage
  • Proven ability to lead and manage change
