Polymer Technologist

Our client, is a growing player in the Biodegradable Polymer Industry.  With a significant presence in Asia and continuing growth in Australia, Europe and the US, they require the services of an experienced Polymer Technologist to join their Australian Operations.  This is a permanent position with the initial probation period (3-6 months) on contract.
 
This will be a multi-faceted role including the commissioning of a new laboratory including all equipment, QA/QC activities as well as hands-on operation of blown film and injection moulding equipment in aid of application development. 
 
Once you have developed into the role you may also be involved in liaising with various customers and the manufacturing plant in China.  Some travel may be undertaken on an as needs basis in technical service for clients and the manufacturing plant in China.  Knowledge of Mandarin would be ideal!
 
To be considered for this exciting opportunity you will need to meet the following criteria:
 
  • Diploma level or undergraduate  engineering or science qualiication in a relevant area such as materials or polymers. 
  • Hands-on experience ideally in film blowing and injection moulding in conjunction with extensive product development/quality control testing such as tensile, tear, moisture, MFI, etc.
  • Experience in QAQC testing and development of procedures for plastic testing.
  • Good verbal and written communication that will allow you to deal with both internal and external customers.
  • Exceptional time management skills to allow you to undertake multiple tasks.
  • Proven organisational skills in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Experience in applications development/techncial service experience will be highly regarded.
  • A self starter with good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team as needed.
