Technical Assistant - Polymer Industry

Our client, Wacker Chemicals, a global chemical production giant, is focused on market needs and are experts in their field. Across their five divisions, quality, health, safety and environmental awareness are the cornerstones of their operations.
 
In Australia, the Polymer Division's Technical Centre supports customers in finding the right solutions to meet their needs. The centre develops, optimises and modifies chemical formulations to suit client applications and their innovative ideas.
 
Due to an increase in work load, our client is looking for a Technical Assistant who is willing to work hard and take responsibility for their work. You will need to be focused on team work, have spark, initiative and be inquisitive. The role involves carrying out technical work to support existing clients and undergo developmental work for the Construction Polymer Business.
 
Working under the supervision of a Technical Engineer (TE), you will be expected to carry out tasks as assigned and assist the TE in keeping work areas clean, orderly and safe. You will be required to follow lab procedures correctly, ensure results are trustworthy and report back in a timely and clear fashion on all aspects.
 
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
 
  • Have a Degree or Diploma, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical / Materials Engineering.
 
  • Experience in construction products, tile adhesive or the coating industry will be viewed favourably.
 
  • Excellent communication, organisational  and presentation skills.
 
  • Ability to work in a team, a willingness to help others and have a good sense of judgement.
 
  • Be confident, self reliant and have an assertive manner.
 
  • Ability to report results, positive or negative and seek advice to move forward or use own initiative to resolve issues.
 
  • Must be safety conscious and always looking for ways to maintain and improve a safe working environment.
 
  • Be able to do some travel when required.
