Microbiology Laboratory Technician - Bench Supervisor

Our client, a NATA and TGA accredited laboratory, specialises in chemical and microbiological testing of food and pharmaceuticals products.   They are currently seeking an experienced Microbiologist Laboratory Technician to supervise the sample set up team in their fast paced laboratories.   This is a permanent full-time role!
The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of samples and performing routine testing on a daily basis. You will be expected to ensure the team achieves the laboratory objectives by assisting to complete tasks in a timely fashion.
As the Bench Supervisor, you will be required to communicate constantly with other laboratory sections ensuring sample preparation set up is met. Other duties will include general management of laboratory supplies, assistance in staff training and active participation in team meetings.
The essential requirements for this role are:
  • Qualifications in Science - microbiology desirable
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Some experience in leading a small team will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Work experience in a microbiology laboratory is essential.
  • Ability to use computers to enter data and generate reports.
  • Must be able to prepare reports of a technical nature.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Working knowledge of NATA requirements.
  • Potential to develop and enhance skills.
  • Positive can do attitude.
  • Approachable and able to foster a team environment.
