Technical Team Leader - FMCG

Our client, a well-known Australian manufacturer of premium pet food products, is looking for a Food Technologist to fill a Technical Team Leader position within their QA department.   
 
Reporting to the Quality Manager, this very important role is full-time and requires 3 or more years experience within the food manufacturing industry, or less if you have had exposure to thermal processing. 
 
As Team Leader, you will have six direct reports. You will be responsible for their supervision and, where necessary, will also conduct some routine testing. Experience in thermal processing, canning, retorting and seaming will be highly regarded. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to perform a number of tasks including:
 
  • Supervise and ensure technical testing is conducted appropriately 
  • Release product batches based on QCP and CCP tests
  • Identify, recommend and implement enhancements to work processes and the environment with regard to safety and continuous quality improvements
  • Take appropriate action when raw materials and/or finished products do not meet specifications
  • Effectively deal with customer complaints
 
To be successful for this role you must meet the following requirements:
 
  • Be a Tertiary qualified Food Technologist
  • Have 3+ years experience in the food manufacturing industry - less if you have thermal processing experience
  • Previous experience in a leadership role will be highly regarded
  • Ability to communicate articulately with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain working relationships with production, maintenance and technical staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Competence in the use of computers and computer software, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
