With significant presence in Asia and continuing growth in Australia, our client is seeking an experienced Polymer Chemist to join their Melbourne Operations. Located in the South East, they are a major player in the Biodegradable Polymer Industry. 
 
This is a multi-faceted role with a requirement to create and commission a new laboratory including all the necessary equipment. Once operational you will be responsible for QA and QC activities as well as hands-on operation of blown film and injection moulding equipment.
 
Once you have developed into the role and have established yourself, you will be involved in liaising with various customers and the manufacturing plant in China.  Some overseas travel will be undertaken on an as needs basis to deal with product development issues in China. Therefore, knowledge of Mandarin would be extremely beneficial!
 
To be considered for this exciting opportunity you will need to meet the following criteria:
 
  • A qualification in engineering or science in a relevant area such as materials or polymers. 
 
  • 4-5 years hands-on experience quality control testing procedures such as tensile strength, tear test, moisture and MFI
 
  • Experience in film blowing and injection moulding
 
  • Experience in QA procedures that define the quality of your product
 
  • Good verbal and written communication that will allow you to deal with both internal and external customers. Mandarin language ideal.
 
  • Exceptional time management skills to allow you to undertake multiple tasks.
 
  • Proven organisational skills in a commercial environment.
 
  • Experience in applications development/support will be highly regarded.
 
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or autonomously as needed.
