Clinical Microbiologist - 3 Days/Week - Forensics

  • Part-Time Role for Experienced Microbiologist

Our client based in inner Melbourne is looking for a Microbiologist with experience in a clinical environment.  This a four month contract requiring the successful candidate to work three days a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
 
Some of the duties include:
 
  • Testing tissue and serum samples submitted for microbiological and serological testing for infectious agents.
 
  • Ensuring quality control in the performance of tests including participation in Quality Assurance programs.
 
  • Correlating, validating and interpreting results as well as reporting and issuing these results after they have been analysed.
 
  • Demonstrating compliance with the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice – Human Blood and Tissues.
 
  • Undertaking special projects and research activities under the supervision of the Senior Microbiologist.
 
  • Undertaking the maintenance, calibration and validation of equipment and stock as well as undertaking quality control of reagents and test procedures.
 
To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:
 
  • Bachelor of Science degree with a Microbiology major.
 
  • Have 2-5 years experience working in clinical environments such as pathology or hospital laboratories.
 
  • Proven ability to adhere to set guidelines and work instructions.
 
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and interpret information via observation and research.
 
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work activities, coordinate a variety of tasks and meet targets whilst managing a variable workload.
 
 
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who has a few years experience in a medicinal and /or clinical environment.
