Laboratory Assistant - Precious Metals Refining

Our client is a progressive and expanding company specialising in the field of precious metals refining. Their operations cover all three facets of this industry and as such their technical facilities include a laboratory, a refinery and a smelting section. 
 
This company is Australia’s leading independent precious metals refiner and it services the jewellery, dental and mining industries.  The premises are in the process of being fully renovated and boast the latest technology in refining.  Excellent staff facilities include well appointed eating areas as well as a gymnasium and management provides a full set of work clothes including jeans, boots, jumpers, jackets, etc.
 
Due to growth, an opening has become available for an entry level Laboratory Assistant. This is a permanent full time role to commence as soon as possible.
 
Working in a team, your main duty will be the testing of precious metals utilising a variety of wet chemistry and instrumental analytical techniques.  The Company will provide you with extensive in-house training which will include the use of Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS).
 
To be successful in your application, you will need  to meet the following requirements;
 
  • Have a Certificate IV or Diploma in a scientific discipline, preferably chemistry. Alternatively be a VCE graduate with some Laboratory experience.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Be able to follow instructions and work safely in a laboratory environment.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to take direction and work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Flexible attitude to work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
