Shift Chemist - EPA Approved Workplace

Our client is a processing company at the forefront of waste management in Australia. They are now looking for an experienced industrial chemist  to join their Melbourne based laboratory as part of a 3 month contract with view to extension. The successful candidate must be able to start immediately!
 
The available position is full-time and requires previous industrial experience, preferably using an ICP for metal testing and sample analysis. The successful candidate will be working alternating day and afternoon shifts (6am-2pm and 12pm-8pm) five days a week.
 
The position includes but is not limited to, the  following duties:
  • Testing for a variety of metals using ICP instrumentation
  • Performing physical testing such as acid digestions, particle sizing and Brookfield viscosity
  • Conducting titrations for chloride samples and measuring pH levels
  • Some routine sampling
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment such as GC, Calorimeter and ICP
 
This is a 3 month contract, which will be reviewed upon completion with view to extension.
 
To be successful for this role you must meet the following requirements:
 
  • Minimum of two years industrial experience, with knowledge of ICP highly regarded
  • Qualifications in science or a diploma in laboratory technology
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to complete tasks on time
  • Competence in the use of computers and computer software
