Trainee Laboratory Technician - Polymers

Our client specialises in the manufacturing of polymer additives and is regarded as the leader in their field in all of the Asia Pacific region.  They have two manufacturing sites in Victoria producing an extensive range of PVC stabilisers and metallic stearates and accreditation to both ISO 9002 and ISO 14001.
 
Due to staff movement, they require a Laboratory Technician to join their team in Melbourne's South East on a permanent full-time basis
 
Working in a team, the successful candidate will be fully trained  to conduct hands-on physical testing of plastics as well as blending and mixing small batches of product for testing by the laboratory. Some of the equipment used to test plastics include rheometers, extruders, heat stability chambers and QUV cabinets.

To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:
 
  • Be a reliable, hard working and honest person with excellent interpersonal skills willing to be trained as Laboratory technician.
 
  • Have completed VCE with science up until Year 10.  Formal qualifications are not needed but Year 11 or 12 chemistry or a Certificate IV in science will be well regarded.
 
  • Some knowledge of working with chemicals either practical or theoretical would be advantageous.
 
  • As a Laboratory Technician you will be exposed to some dangerous goods and equipment as well as some lifting. You must be comfortable and competent in this environment.
 
  • Good communication skills in English and time management skills.
 
  • Ability to take direction and work autonomously or as part of a team.
 
  • Flexible attitude to work.
 
  • Commitment to working safely and responsibly. 
 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
