Senior Chemist - Technical Role in Polyurethanes

Are you an experienced chemist with polymer experience looking for a role offering career progression?
 
Do you enjoy travel and dealing with clients?  Would you like to move out of the laboratory in a few years and into a sales role? 
 
Our client, a global giant in the chemical industry, is seeking a technically savvy chemist to join their Melbourne operations.
 
The position is quite hands on requiring the candidate to develop and formulate polyurethane solutions to meet customer needs and application requirements, in particular for adhesives, coatings and elastomers.
 
The successful candidate will provide technical support to clients Australia wide and as such will travel at least once a month interstate and locally. In doing so, you will work closely with the Sales and Technical Managers, ensuring product development paths are optimal, robust and production friendly.
 
In addition, you will be expected to develop excellent working relationships with your customers and assist in information collection including literature and product research.
 
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to move out of the laboratory in a few years! 
 
To be selected for this position, you will need to meet to following criteria:
 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Polymers, Material Science or Engineering. Honours or a higher degree are encouraged to apply
 
  • Solid knowledge in organic chemistry, polymers or adhesives/sealants would be highly regarded
 
  • Industry experience is welcome but graduates that have achieved good marks at Uni are also encouraged to apply!
 
  • EXCELLENT interpersonal and relationship development skills as you will be dealing with external customers as well as internal parties
 
  • Great organisational skills with the ability to focus and prioritise tasks
 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English are a must for this role!
 
  • Desire to develop skills which could lead into technical sales
