Our client, a major government research organisation is looking to employ two analytical chemists on a 3-6 month contract.

This is a great opportunity for a chemist with an Honours degree or a PhD in Chemical Sciences such as Material Science or similar. 
 
The successful candidates must have GC/MS experience.  Working knowledge in LC/MS will be highly regarded.
 
The successful candidate will be working within a highly motivated team of chemists and engineers dedicated to the development and testing of individual protective equipment (IPE). 
You will also provide support to R&D projects and various ongoing programs.
 
This role requires someone that would be comfortable and willing to work outside of their current training as the project base may be widespread, encompassing traditional R&D activities alongside routine test and evaluation duties.  A high level of communication skills, both written and oral in English is required.
 
You will be become part of a team involved in various projects such as:
 
  • Assist in test and evaluation studies on CWA detectors including data processing and report writing
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of samples using GC-MS, LC-MS and other analytical techniques
  • Assist with the optimisation and validation of analytical methods to support programs in the Chemical Sciences Capability
  • Contribute to the routine operation and maintenance of research equipment
  • Adhere to and fully support the internal NATA Quality Management System
To be considered for this role you should meet the following criteria:
 
  • Honours  Degree or higher in chemistry, materials science or related discipline.
 
  • Experience with GC/MS and LC/MS highly regarded.
 
  • You must be an Australian Citizen!! Permanent residency is not sufficient!
 
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly personality are essential attributes, as this role involves working in a team environment.
 
  • Work experience in a research facility will be advantageous
 
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must be willing to undergo a police check.
