Quality Assurance Product Technologist - Food

Our client is a highly respected company whose key function is to bridge overseas food manufacturers with clients in Australia and New Zealand.  
Due to growth, an excellent opportunity has become available for a self motivated Food Technologist to join their Melbourne Head Office.  With a few years experience in Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance and/or Product Development, you will be joining a team of professionals in a modern setting. This role is office based - our client does not have laboratories or manufacturing.  
This diverse role will see you working as part of a highly professional team with leading European/US manufacturers (predominantly food) and the largest national retail chains on exciting, high quality product ranges.
Some of the duties associated with this role include:
  • Communicating regularly and clearly with manufacturers and clients on technical matters.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of product specifications in liaison with manufacturers and clients.
  • Assisting in the review of label artwork for compliance with Australian regulations and product specifications.
  • Assisting in the undertaking of assessments for new and ongoing products.
  • Coordinating QA functions as outlined in the QA Manual, including Verification activities, Corrective actions, Internal audits, product assessment and testing.
To be successful in your application, you will need to meet the following requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Technology, Microbiology, Nutrition or Chemistry.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi task and hence manage multiple projects.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills especially when it comes to technical matters.
  • A few years experience in a FMCG environment (preferably food) with emphasis on compliance and QA.
  • Sound understanding of food labeling concepts as well as QA principles and practices.
  • Be highly motivated and able to work as part of a team. 
  • Must have a practical outlook without compromising attention to detail.
  • Excellent Computer skills, experience with MS Office is essential
