Appliance Testing Manager

Our client is a multinational energy Company that is well known and respected in Industry.
 
Due to growth, they are currently looking for an experienced engineer to manage our client's Appliance Testing Laboratory in Sydney.  This is an important role for both the Company and its many clients.  This is a Specialist Service role to assist clients in maintaining the appropriate quality standards required for commercial operations to be successful. 
 
The position requires you to be at the forefront of the Company's Appliance Testing Laboratory and you will therefore be dealing directly with your customers. This diverse clientele will come both from within and external to the Company.  Therefore, the desired person will have energy, spark and initiative. 
 
You will need to ensure that all testing complies to the appropriate Standards, as this is a NATA Accredited and ISO Certified Laboratory. 
 
 The Company is not just sitting on their laurels, they are successful because of what they offer their customers.  Hence, you will also be intimately involved with initiating, developing and then implementing new certification and testing programs to improve the scope of the Laboratory's work. 
 
There will be routine testing, however in a facility such as this there is also the unusual and often complex "one-off" assignments that will challenge the successful applicant's knowledge.
 
In order to be considered for this role, the following criteria MUST be met:
 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. 
 
  • Experience in appliance testing is mandatory
 
  • Previous experience as a NATA signatory will be looked at favourably
 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of internal and external customers
 
  • Understanding the application of Standards relevant to appliances and components
 
  • Exceptional customer service/liaison skills
 
 
  • Well developed written and, equally as important, verbal communication skills
 
  • Excellent attention to detail
 
  • Basic business acumen as this is a commercial Facility and you will need to provide quotations for your work
 
This is a  frontline management role for someone that likes to be challenged and engaged in the workplace
