Senior Laboratory Technician/Chemist - Oils

  • Opportunity to join a truly global company
  • Located in the South-Eastern suburbs
  • Utilise your experience in this great Customer Service Laboratory
Our client provides a laboratory service to aid customers in reducing the downtime and operational costs of their expensive equipment.  The Laboratory conducts physical, chemical and instrumental analysis of lubricating products to assist their customers in achieving these goals.

This exciting opportunity is a full-time permanent position, requiring a "hands on" Analytical Chemist with demonstrated initiative and enthusiasm.  The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in chemistry or a related field.

The position requires you to work a 7:00am to 3:00pm shift.  However, there will be times where you will need to work on the second shift from 12:00 to 8:00pm instead.  Depending upon staffing requirements there may need to be the flexibility to rotate between the two shifts in the future.  Due to the nature of the quick turn around times, flexibility for all staff is a key factor in this Laboratory.

The position has become available due to internal staff movement and there is a supervisory aspect to it.  However, it is still a "hands on" position where you will be performing analyses on oil samples.  After your initial training you will be expected to provide supervision and technical direction to the team. So, this role will be suited to someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will need to meet the following position requirements:

  • Have tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Preferably experience in petroleum or petrochemical analysis.  Experience with ICP and FTIR will be highly regarded.
  • The ability to follow analytical methods.
  • Proven capacity to work in a fast paced environment with high sample throughput.
  • As mentioned previously, excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The capacity to become an integral part of the team.
  • Some supervisory experience.
  • It is essential that you have the flexibility to rotate with the other shift as the need arises.

If you meet the above selection criteria, please forward your covering letter addressing the criteria above and an updated resume using the APPLY NOW button below. Don't miss out on this exciting supervisory opportunity with a global player!!
