Our client is a recognised leader in its field and has an envious reputation not only in Australia, but also with many of its overseas competing facilities.  They have requested the services of ChemSkill to assist them in sourcing a Bioanalytical Team Leader to establish and then develop their new Sports Drug Testing Bioanalytical Research Group.
 
Reporting to the Laboratory Director, the individual upon developing and establishing the Group, will be responsible for leading and maintaining the Facility which will provide accurate, high quality, research services.  As the Group develops there will be an increasing staff function, therefore the potential candidate must have previous supervisory/management experience.
 
In this role you would:
 
  • Take the lead in developing analyses for the determination of proteins and peptides in biological fluids.
  • Adapt existing methodologies for robust, routine analysis.
  • Develop protocols for the detection of genetic means of doping.
  • Investigate the use of biomarkers to detect biological and genetic methods of doping.
  • After developing methodologies, transfer and train parent laboratory staff in these exciting protocols.
  • Manage the Research Group's Budget.
  • Attend relevant national and international conferences and meetings making presentations where appropriate.
  • Prepare research results for publication in peer reviewed publications.
 
In order to be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
 
  • Have a Postgraduate Science degree majoring in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry or a related discipline with previous experience in a Bioanalytical facility. 
  • Ability to manage a small team.
  • Strong method development and validation experience in Bioanalytical analysis, such as LC/MS, IEF, SDS-PAGE,  Electrophoresis, Immunoaffinity extraction methods, Western Blotting, protein sequencing and related techniques.
  • Well established project management experience that will allow you to develop workable and sound solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to act as an expert witness at inquiries, hearings and appeals as the need arises.
  • Be willing to make decisions and commit oneself to taking action.
  • Show initiative in developing new ideas and techniques that have practical applications and that are economically viable.
 
This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime.  You will be at the forefront of bioanalytical analysis and lead the direction of the Research Group.
