Research and Policy Officer

Our client, an organisation dedicated to the promotion of Scientific and Engineering knowledge for practical purposes, has an exciting opportunity for a Research and Policy Officer to join their team on a 2 year - Fixed Term Contract.
 
 
Working in a multi-disciplinary role, you will responsible for researching current issues and reporting on this information in both a verbal and written format.  The position will bridge together Applied Science to Policy, in areas ranging from environmental issues such as climate change across to Health. 
 
 
To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in researching, the ability to collate and digest complex information and then confidently relay this in both written reports and verbal presentations. You will also display fantastic communication skills, as you will be liaising with Senior Researchers, external organisations and key stakeholders. As such, relationship building will come easily to you.
 
 
To be considered for this diverse, challenging and rewarding role, at the front of important Scientific and Engineering Issues, you must meet the following Essential Selection Criteria;
 
  • PhD in a Scientific/Engineering Discipline OR a minimum degree level Qualification(Science or Engineering) with 3-4 years of experience in a Research or Science Policy role
  • Experience dealing with Senior personnel in a professional environment, or key stakeholders
  • Strong Relationship building skills
  • Well developed Research skills through a PhD or similar, or a research related role through Industry, Gov't or Academia
  • Excellent report Writing skills
  • Proven ability to collate information from a variety of sources,  and then relay complex technical information in an easily understandable format- written report and verbal presentation
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects/demands (Project Mgmt experience well regarded
  • Ability to comprehend complex multi-disciplinary Scientific and Engineering Reports and information
  • Experience and confidence to present information in front of several people
  • Exceptional Written and Verbal Communication is an absolute MUST!
