Laboratory Technician - Petroleum Industry

CLIENT
Our client is a multinational company that prides itself in the quality of the product they manufacture. Their Quality Control laboratory is NATA registered and committed to providing excellent customer service whilst being recognised for its strong Health, Safety and Environmental record.
 
ROLE
This position presents an outstanding opportunity to join a focused, motivated laboratory team on an attractive Monday to Friday basis.  The role includes a three month probation period and on-the-job training.  Successful completion of this initial period will result in an ongoing, permanent full-time contract.
 
The successful candidate will be required to perform he following duties:
  • Calibration and basic maintenance of equipment
  • Making up of standard solutions accurately to support reliable test results of product
  • Operating standard laboratory equipment, for example titrators and pH meters
  • Using, cleaning and maintaining various types of laboratory instruments and glassware
  • Handling and storing chemicals and other materials
  • Administrative tasks such as maintaining notebooks and documenting procedures
  • Use of computers to enter data
  • Following SOPS and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks are always adhered to
  • Other duties as needed
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Diploma in Chemistry, Laboratory Techniques or similar
  • At least five years experience working in an industrial laboratory 
  • Experience in calibrating and maintaining equipment
  • Diligence in documentation of data and attention to detail
  • High level of drive/motivation to work in a busy laboratory environment
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Excellent work ethic as well as the ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
  • Flexibility to meet the varying work load of a busy laboratory
  • Working knowledge of NATA requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills is a must
