CLIENT
Our client is a large Multinational Commercial Laboratory  and Technical Consultancy. They hold NATA accreditation and ISO9001 certification and they are a leader in their field.  They now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Laboratory Manager to join the Company.

ROLE
The position, based at their Darwin facility, is responsible for managing the Environmental Section. This is a great opportunity for someone in a supervisory Senior Chemist role wanting to take the next step or someone currently in a similar role looking for that "Sea Change" experience.  The locals call it "God's own country" and for good reason.

You will report to the Laboratory Manager and will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Environmental Laboratory.  It is a supervisory/managerial role with only a limited "hands on" component, however you will be part of a team and there will be times where everyone needs to get their hands dirty.

There will be nominally six Chemists and Technicians that you will need to supervise as well as manage and organise the daily workload.  You will have to liaise with customers and have a good understanding of quality systems and how they apply in a commercial environment.

SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or Environmental Science or similar.
  • Experience in an Environmental Laboratory in conjunction with supervisory experience.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Environmental analytical techniques such as ICP and XRF as well as sampling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that will allow you to deal with internal staff and clients.
  • Capable of working autonomously as well as a member of the team as required.
  • Good analytical skills with exceptional problem solving capabilities.
  • Proactive and determined attitude.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone that is motivated and stimulated by challenge.  If you are someone that likes and wants responsibility this is the position for you.  If you are not aware of it, Global Organisations take care of those that show initiative and capability.  This could be the position that you have been waiting for.  Lifestyle, challenge and opportunity; what more can you ask for.
