CLIENT
Our client, is a leading Chemical Manufacturer based in Melbourne, who have a rare opening for a Plant Chemist to join the team. 
 
ROLE
This Permanent Full Time role, is a fantastic opportunity for a Chem Engineer/Chemist with experience working with Production Staff, in Process Improvement, Managing Small Projects, as well as some R+D. In  this role you will be the link between Production and the Technical  Team.
 
You will have a range of responsibilities, which will include standard R + D. The role will combine your knowledge of Production and Processes as well as your Chemistry skills. It calls for someone with fantastic interpersonal skills, a real 'people person' who enjoys dealing with people from many departments and has relationship building skills. It could be the perfect next step in your career, with a fantastic organisation where your Projects offer great Variety and Challenges:
 
  • Setting up systems to measure inefficiencies and devise improvements;
  • Management of Quarantine Area of Manufacturing plants;
  • R+D,  new formulations
  • Attend production meetings to identify improvements for Plant/Process efficiencies;
  • Management of SLOB stock;
  • Up-Scaling of Lab Blends;
  • Conduct Audits;
  • Ensure procedures comply with legislation and Investigate Non-conformance of Products.
     
SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Degree in Science (Chemistry) or Chemical Engineering
  • Previous Experience in Process Improvement in a Manufacturing Environment , strong exposure to Production or Production Management exp highly desirable
  • Min 3 yrs exp working for a Chemical or Petrochemical Manufacturer testing products
  • Mechanical Aptitude- knowledge of fluid engineering is a big plus!
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and knowledge of ISO 14000/AS 4801 desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the right personality is essential in this role
