Our client is a highly respected Company that has experienced  amazing growth over the years and continues to do so.Their Chemistry Department that specialises in the testing of food products is in need of an experienced Leader who started out as an Analytical Food Chemist and climbed the ranks to a supervisory role.  If you are looking to take the next step in your career then keep reading!  Career  succession planning means that you will be in line for future promotions.

 

ROLE

As the Section Leader of the Chemistry Department you will be directly responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational needs of the section. With five capable direct reports, you will ensure your section continues to meet the needs of the business and the clients'.

You will ensure customer service expectations are met within budget and that the section operates to appropriate quality and safety standards. You will also ensure your section achieves and maintains required regulatory accreditations.

 

THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for a Food Chemist who is already a Laboratory Manager or in a similar role and wishes to take the next step in their career. You will be  ambitious, have a positive attitude and good business acumen.  Your knowledge of food safety and the ability to lead will see you succeed in this role.

The successful candidate will be mentored  and supported with high level issues by an experienced manager as required, however, you will be expected to work as an autonomous individual within this close knit and high powered team. 

 

POSITION CRITERIA

To be considered for this important role you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a management/supervisory role within a Laboratory environment. Background in food will be well regarded but not essential.
  • A broad understanding of Chromatography techniques
  • Experience and knowledge in the applications of Quality Systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/co-ordinate service/project delivery across functional groups
  • Knowledge of MS Office and LIMS
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Strong customer focus
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong Team Building, Leadership attributes
