Our client, an independent Australian owned company with innovative processes that make them a true contender to be the world leader in the supply of compounds used in pharmaceutical products. The business is currently growing at a fast rate hence our client has created a yet another position for a Industrial/Process Development Chemist.



We are looking for someone with a PhD or Masters degree in Chemistry who also has a few years' experience in industry. You will need to have a strong Analytical Chemistry background and ideally have experience in process development and scale-ups in a cGMP environment.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will develop and optimise extraction and chemical processes for the manufacture of materials, intermediates and novel compounds used in drug development and support manufacturing operations by means of problem solving and trouble shooting.

The main responsibilities include identification of potential improvements to established processes with the aim of improving efficiency, product purity and reducing cost; plan and conduct experiments to assess the viability of these potential process improvements; to provide technical and analytical support during process commissioning, technology transfer of laboratory optimised processes into Manufacturing Operations; conduct plant investigations to solve Manufacturing technical problems; identify critical process parameters and assist in the development of analytical and in process check methods.



To be considered for this position, you will need to meet all the following criteria:


  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science

  • Experience with scale ups for pharmaceutical products is a must!

  • Three years minimum experience working in a research setting within industry

  • Working knowledge of cGMP

  • Experience with Analytical Instruments such as HPLC and GC

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving skills and technical report writing

  • A desire to live and work in Tasmania

  • Good work ethic, excellent interpersonal skill and a good team player is a must!
