Quality Assurance Specialist - Petroleum Industry

The ExxonMobil group of companies in Australia is one of this country’s largest oil and gas producers and a major refiner and marketer of petroleum products.
 
Mobil Refining Australia Pty Ltd, an ExxonMobil affiliate, operates one of Victoria's most important industrial facilities, Mobil Altona Refinery, which supplies half of Victoria's fuel needs. It operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and processes crude oil into the full range of petroleum products. 
 
Due to staff movement, the Refinery Laboratory is currently looking for a motivated, highly committed individual to fill the permanent role of Quality Assurance Specialist. 
 
This position involves a number of different tasks such as the continuous improvement of the Laboratory's safety and environmental processes and procedures. It is also responsible for the assessment of existing quality assurance processes to achieve a high quality end product. 
 
To ensure optimisation of the overall refinery business outcomes, it is expected that the successful candidate will work closely with the Laboratory's internal customers and other stakeholders.
 
To be considered for this position you must meet the following criteria:
 
  • A tertiary degree in Science, Chemistry or Engineering disciplines
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in quality systems - ISO 17025 is a must.
  • Experience in a refinery or petrochemicals plant will be highly regarded.
  • Good working knowledge of analytical equipment used in petroleum testing.
  • A sound knowledge of laboratory safety processes and requirements.
  • Experience in the area of quality control and quality assurance processes, laboratory methods and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate teams coupled with the ability to multi-task and project manage efficiently.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team whilst being adaptable to change.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal to deal with a variety of people at different levels.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills.
