INDUSTRIAL CHEMIST - PETROLEUM INDUSTRY

  • ROTATING SHIFT - ENJOY THREE DAYS OFF AT THE END OF EACH SHIFT
Our client, a big multinational and a leader in the Petroleum Industry, is currently looking for a Chemist to join their NATA registered laboratory in the Western suburbs. This full-time contract position is ongoing and presents a great opportunity for candidates to work in a dynamic, professional work environment.

In summary, the role of this Chemist will be to test products such as petrol, diesel and bitumen using a variety of automated and manual instruments as well as wet chemical techniques.
 
The products must meet very stringent quality control specifications. The testing must be completed in a timely and cost efficient manner. Some liaison with production staff and operators on quality related issues would also be involved.
 
This position  operates on a rotating shift, working 3 days on and 3 days off. The shifts are 10 hours each and can start as early as 7:00 am and finish at 8:00 pm.
 
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
 
  • Degree or Diploma in chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in quality control laboratories.
  • Experience in testing petroleum products highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to relate to people at all levels.
  • Experience working in a NATA testing laboratory.
  • Good problem solving capability and good time management skills. 
  • Excellent team working ability.
  • Friendly yet professional disposition.
 
Candidates without direct experience in petrochemicals but who are seriously looking for a long-term career in the Petroleum Industry will be considered and training will be offered.
