PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT - FOOD TECHNOLOGIST

Our Client is a multinational food manufacturing company, leaders in their market segment. We have all grown up with their instantly recognisable brands.
 
They are currently seeking an experienced and commercially aware food scientist for a 12-month tenure (includes annual leave, sick leave and public holiday pay) to cover a maternity leave position.

Your duties will include:
 
  • Manage, conduct and lead the product development for multiple innovation projects, including new product development, line extensions, quality improvement, cost innovation and productivity and capacity improvements.
  • Act as a technical resource to various functions in the company.
  • Liaise with internal contacts including Marketing, Research and Technology, Nutrition, Sales, Finance, Product Developers, Engineers, Sensory and Stability Managers, Operators etc.
  • Liase with external contacts such as co-manufacturers, contractors, vendors, research organisations, raw and packaging material and equipment suppliers etc.
  • Show innovation and creativity in discovery of new technologies in food/process R&D and improvement to existing products or processes.
  • Document project formulae and test results.
  • Work with Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs to identify allergen and safety issues.
 
To be considered for this role you will:
 
  • Be degree qualified in Food Technology or a related field.
  • Have expertise in R&D and/or Quality in the Food Industry with around 5 years experience, preferably more.
  • Have product development experience in snack foods or cereals.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills to allow you to communicate with people at all levels from all departments.
  • Have project management and leadership experience and be familiar with project management tools (such as MS Project).
  • Understand the business/financial aspects of product development.
  • Be aware of food regulations and consumer and ingredient trends.
  • Understand manufacturing processes.
