OH&S ISSUE RESOLUTION POLICY
It is important that
all ChemSkill employees are aware of their right to work in a safe
environment. Upon commencement in your position, if you become aware
of any potential hazards or unsafe work practices you must tell your
supervisor, health and safety representative or safety committee
member immediately. If as a Contractor, the host employer does not fix
the problem, you should contact ChemSkill immediately.
The Occupational Health and Safety Act in each state or territory has
guidelines in regards to consultative process requirements in regards
to workplace health and safety issues that arise. Though there can be
minor differences from state to state they generally incorporate the
election of health and safety representatives and the instigation of
health and safety committees. ChemSkill has nominated Health and
Safety Representatives in each state and there names and contact
details are located in the Section entitled Health and Safety
Representatives.
If an issue is not resolved at the workplace, the ChemSkill process is
as follows:
- Initial discussions will be held with yourself to ascertain the
associated risk or hazard.
- With your knowledge, ChemSkill will hold discussions with the host
employer in regards to the associated risk or hazard. This will
include discussions as to whether the hazard or risk can be isolated,
who is impacted by the risk or hazard and a timeframe to implement the
solutions arrived at.
- ChemSkill will report back to you on the outcome of any discussions
held.
- If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can place your
concerns as to why you are not satisfied with the outcomes in writing
to myself (Helen Patronis - Managing Director).
It is rare that safety issues ever need to proceed to the issue
resolution stage, however be aware that you have the right to a safe
and healthy work environment and ChemSkill encourages you to raise any
issues that are of concern to you.
